SHOT A: warm session, child + Kelsey

A whole-child pediatric practice

We look at what's underneath.

Social communication, language, speech, executive functioning, and early intervention, with special depth in myofunctional and airway-informed care: the systems beneath how your child connects, communicates, and grows.

SHOT B: parent + child, quiet moment

You noticed something

Whatever brought you here, paying attention is exactly right.

The parties they're not invited to. The conversations that stall after one word. A toddler who isn't saying much yet. Rather than treating each concern on its own, we look at what might be underneath.

SHOT C: child leading play, on their terms

Neurodiversity-affirming, always

We support your child as they are.

Presuming competence, following your child's lead, and honoring the way they naturally connect and communicate, never working to make them someone else. Families seeking affirming care are at the heart of this practice.

Meet Kelsey

Carefully designed therapy your child will look forward to.

Communication skills are hard-won. Every session is built with purpose, and designed so your child feels safe, capable, and genuinely enjoys the work.

Kelsey Lynn Martin, MS, CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist who built her practice on a whole-child conviction: understanding a child means seeing everything working together, and asking what might be underneath. She supports social communication, language, speech and voice, executive functioning, and early intervention, with advanced training in orofacial myofunctional and airway-informed care. She takes the time to explain what she's seeing and why, and to answer every question fully. Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming from the ground up: your child, exactly as they are, presumed competent and supported.

Your child will always work directly with Kelsey, so care stays consistent and your child is truly known.

How we help

Every child here is working on connection: with friends, with words, with the world. Kelsey supports the whole child behind the concern, across every area below, and screens for the underlying systems that may be contributing.

SHOT 2: small group session

Connecting & Conversation

Social communication

For the child who wants connection but finds it hard to reach: friendships tough to start or keep, conversations that stall, social situations that feel confusing or draining. We support connection in a way that fits who they are. 1:1 and small in-person groups (4-6 kids, by age) in Santa Monica.

Understanding & Finding the Words

Expressive & receptive language

For the child who can't quite get the story out, loses the thread of directions, or knows more than they can say. We build both sides: taking language in, and getting it out.

Getting answers is simpler than you think.

1 · A free 15-minute consultation. You tell Kelsey what you've been noticing. She listens, asks a few questions, and shares her honest read on whether an evaluation makes sense, including when it doesn't. If therapy isn't the right next step, you'll leave with reassurance, ideas for what to watch at home, and an open door to check back anytime.

2 · A comprehensive evaluation. A thorough, unhurried assessment of the concern you came in with, plus screening for other underlying systems that may be contributing. You get a written report and clear recommendations you can act on and share with your pediatrician, dentist, or ENT.

3 · A plan built for your child. If support is the right next step, you'll get a structured program with defined goals, progress you can see, and coaching so you know exactly how to help between sessions.

My child talks fine at home but struggles with friends. Is that really a speech therapy thing?

Yes, and it's one of the most common reasons families find us. The skills of friendship (starting conversations, taking turns, reading the room, repairing misunderstandings) are called social communication or pragmatic language, and a speech-language pathologist is exactly the specialist who teaches them.

We think our child may be autistic. What's your approach?

We support your child as they are: presuming competence, following their lead, and honoring the way they naturally connect and communicate, never working to make them someone else. Families seeking affirming care are at the heart of this practice.

What if it turns out my child doesn't need therapy?

Then that's a genuinely good outcome, and we'll say so. You'll leave the consultation with reassurance, a sense of what's typical, a few things to keep an eye on, and an open invitation to check back in whenever you'd like. Coming in early and hearing good news is never a wasted visit.

What does it cost?

We'll walk through pricing together at your free consultation, once we understand what kind of support might fit. We're a private-pay practice, and we provide superbills on request for families who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

Do you take insurance?

We're a private-pay practice, which is how we keep sessions unhurried and completely tailored to your child. On request, we provide itemized superbills you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement or use with HSA/FSA funds.

What does mouth breathing have to do with any of this?

Sometimes a lot. How a child breathes, rests their tongue, and uses their mouth can affect sleep, energy, attention, and speech clarity, and it's a part of the picture that often goes unnoticed. Kelsey screens for these patterns so an underlying cause isn't missed while symptoms get treated.

My toddler isn't talking much yet. Should we wait and see?

You don't have to wait and wonder. Early support is built around your family's real routines, and a free 15-minute conversation can tell you a lot about whether now is the moment. If watchful waiting is the better call, Kelsey will say so plainly.
